Vaccines are part of a healthy lifestyle.
Eating well, staying active, getting enough sleep- these are all great ways to help live a healthy lifestyle. But keeping up-to-date with recommended vaccines is also part of doing everything you can to help protect your health.
Vaccines may help protect against serious diseases.
We all know that the point of vaccinating is to help prevent certain diseases. Some of those diseases can be serious. What’s more, certain diseases are still common enough that not receiving the recommended vaccines may put you at risk of getting infected.
Getting vaccinated may help protect others.
Although infrequent, outbreaks of certain diseases for which there are vaccines continue to occur. Decreasing vaccination rates may contribute to outbreaks of diseases for which vaccines have been developed. People with certain conditions may not be able to receive certain vaccines. Therefore, it’s important for those around them to be vaccinated in order to help prevent the spread of diseases.
Near elimination of some diseases.
Over time, successful vaccination campaigns have contributed to the elimination (or near elimination) of some diseases in the US.
Potential side effects

Side effects vary for each vaccine. Each vaccine will have its own risks.

Some common side effects:

Pain, redness, and swelling at the site of injection
Muscle aches

Some serious side effects:

Allergic reactions that require immediate medical attention
